Project AWARE International Cleanup 15th Spetember 2007

Activities

“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.” Margaret Mead.

Future generations can inherit thriving aquatic resources if we act now. There are many ways to become involved on an individual and community level that will effect the health of our global environment. Whether you volunteer for a Project AWARE beach or underwater cleanup, coordinate a mooring buoy installation, support improved conservation management or share your love for the underwater world with community leaders and friends – you can participate in solutions.

We are holding a clean up in Budleigh Salterton, Devon - this was the site where the container ship hit rough waters and ended up losing some of it's load which ended up on the beach. We are aiming to create a fun, family atomsphere so bring the children and a picnic and enjoy the fine summer sunshine! There will be an opportunity to get wet and see what you can clean up underwater - we are also planning a bbq and a few shandys to end the day.

Ian and Pippa will be conducting the Project AWARE Seminar on Friday 14th (6pm) at Divemobile for anyone who would like to learn more about what people can do to help. Cost is £5 but all proceeds go to Project AWARE. If people would like to be certified as a Project AWARE Specialist then all they pay for is the certification cost which is £25 (we will donate a further £5 to project Aware if you pay for the certification card) which will give you a unique limited edition diving card. Contact us to reserve your place.

Divers wishing to take part in the underwater cleanup need to be competent to dive with their buddy without the aid of a diving professional. You dont have to have a dive qualification to help with the beach clean - we will have spare mask snorkel and fins for anyone wishing to give snorkelling a go. Contact us to reserve your place.
